How to connect AI DBA Workbench to AlloyDB for intelligent monitoring

This video demonstrates how pgEdge AI DBA Workbench connects to AlloyDB over a standard Postgres connection - no agent installation, nothing deployed to your database host, no changes to your setup. Once it's connected, 34 built-in probes start building a picture of your instance: replication lag, WAL throughput, query performance, vacuum activity, connection health, and more.

Overview

AlloyDB is a managed database, which means Google handles the infrastructure side for you. What it doesn't include is deep PostgreSQL observability - the kind of operational insight that tells you why queries are slowing down, what vacuum is actually doing, or what's driving connection counts up at 2am. That's not a criticism; it's just not what managed databases are designed for.

The pgEdge AI DBA Workbench fills that gap, and it connects to AlloyDB over a standard Postgres connection - no agent installation, nothing deployed to your database host, no changes to your setup. Once it's connected, 34 built-in probes start building a picture of your instance: replication lag, WAL throughput, query performance, vacuum activity, connection health, and more.

This video walks through adding AlloyDB and shows Ellie, the AI assistant built into the Workbench, handling a real alert. Ellie doesn't just surface what changed... she reads the metrics in context and walks you through a specific resolution: not a vague recommendation, but a query plan to run, an index to add, or a parameter to tune.
